In this chapter, we will be learning about inheritance. We will start with monohybrid inheritance, which means the inheritance of a single trait. We will explain the meaning of monohybrid cross and discuss Mendel's experiments on monohybrid inheritance. Next, we will move on to dihybrid inheritance, which refers to the inheritance of two different traits. We will explain the meaning of dihybrid cross and discuss Mendel's experiments on dihybrid inheritance. We will also learn about genes and alleles. We will explain the meaning of locus and understand how alleles and loci are related to genes on chromosomes. Lastly, we will study inheritance in humans. We will identify the types of human chromosomes, namely autosomes and sex chromosomes. We will also analyze and explain human karyotype, which is the arrangement of chromosomes in a cell.
