In this chapter, we will be learning about significant figures and standard form. Significant figures are the digits in a number that carry meaning. We will learn how to determine the number of significant figures in a number and how to round off a number to a certain number of significant figures. Standard form is a way of writing very large or very small numbers using powers of 10. We will learn how to convert numbers into standard form and vice versa. By the end of this chapter, we will be able to confidently work with significant figures and understand how to write numbers in standard form.
