In this chapter, we will be learning about mathematical modeling. Mathematical modeling is the process of using mathematical functions to solve real-life problems. We will focus on three types of functions: linear, quadratic, and exponential. We will learn how to identify which function to use for a given problem and how to communicate the mathematical modeling process. By the end of this chapter, we will be able to apply mathematical modeling to solve various real-life problems.
