Chapter 1: Redox Equilibrium

What you need to learn in this chapter

In this chapter, we will be learning about redox equilibrium. We will start by understanding oxidation and reduction, which are important concepts in redox reactions. Through activities, we will learn how to identify redox reactions and explain them based on changes in oxidation numbers.

Next, we will study standard electrode potential. We will learn what it means and how to determine the oxidizing and reducing agents based on their standard electrode potential values.

Moving on, we will explore voltaic cells and understand how redox reactions occur in these cells through experiments. We will also learn about electrolytic cells and electrolysis. Through activities, we will understand how electrolysis works in molten compounds.

By the end of this chapter, we will have a good understanding of redox equilibrium and be able to apply our knowledge to solve problems and analyze redox reactions.
