Coordinates In The First Quadrant

7.1 Coordinates In The First Quadrant

We will learn to recognize the x-axis, y-axis and origin (O).

  • The Cartesian system is used to determine the position of a point on the Cartesian plane.
  • A Cartesian plane consists of two number lines that intersect at right angles.
  • The point of intersection between the x-axis and the y-axis is called the origin.

  • The position of a point on the Cartesian plane is represented by a pair of ordered numbers (x, y) called the coordinates of the point.
