Chapter 2 : Speaking Skills
What will you learn in this chapter
Throughout this chapter, students will practice explaining and summarizing content from texts they have read or heard. They will also develop skills to ask about and explain the causes and consequences of actions, events, and simple processes, fostering critical thinking and deeper comprehension.
An essential aspect of this chapter is the ability to articulate advantages and disadvantages of plans and ambitions, as well as to justify personal viewpoints with logical reasoning. Students will also explore how to express and respond to emotions such as amusement, anger, and regret, enabling them to engage in more natural and expressive communication.
Furthermore, students will refine their ability to use formal and informal registers appropriately across different social and academic contexts. They will also develop active listening skills by confirming understanding in discourse-level exchanges through paraphrasing and repeating key points.
By the end of this chapter, students will be more confident in their ability to communicate effectively, summarize key ideas, and engage in discussions with clarity and purpose.
