Function of step-up transformer in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution System
The voltage of the alternating current is increased to 132 kV, 275 kV or 500 kV using a step-up transformer
Function of National Grid Network (C) in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution System
The high voltage alternating current is then transmitted through a network of transmission cables called the National Grid Network (C)
Function of switch zone (D) in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution System (1)
At the end of the grid, the alternating current flows to a switch zone (D) at the main substation (E1).
Function of switch zone (D) in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution System (2)
This switch zone enables electricity to be sent to the branch substation (E2) when needed
Function of switch zone (D) in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution System (3)
This switch zone is also used to enable specific power stations and grids to be closed for maintenance works without disrupting the electricity supply to consumers
The electrical wiring system in Malaysia
Consists of two different types, one-phase wiring (or single-phase) and three-phase wiring
Uses of the single-phase wiring
The single-phase wiring is only suitable and stable enough for electricity usage not exceeding 10 kW or 50 A, such as in rural residential areas
Uses of three-phase wiring
In commercial and industrial areas where electricity usage is more than 10 kW or 50 A, the three-phase wiring which is more stable and reliable is used
The electrical wiring system that is suitable for use in areas that use electricity not exceeding 10 kW or 50 A
The single-phase wiring
The electrical wiring system which is suitable for use in areas that use electricity above 10 kW or 50 A
