Carbon (C), calcium (Ca), hydrogen (H), magnesium (Mg), oxygen (O), phosphorus (P), nitrogen (N), sulfur (S) & potassium (K)

Inorganic micronutrient for plants

Chlorine (Cl), Zinc (Zn), Iron (Fe), Copper (Cu), Manganese (Mn), Nickel (Ni), Boron (B) & Molybdenum (Mo)

The three main macronutrients of plants

Carbon, hydrogen & oxygen

The function of carbon (C), oxygen (O) and hydrogen (H) in plants

Components in the carbon cycle & the oxygen cycle, components in all plant organic compounds and essential in sugar production

The function of Nitrogen (N) in plants

Gives green colour to plants & is a major component of proteins, nucleic acids and enzymes in photosynthesis and respiration

The function of potassium (K) in plants

Essential for protein production and carbohydrate metabolism, a cofactor for several enzymes & helps maintain plant turgidity

Effect of chlorine(Cl) deficiency in plants

Plants will wilt, have slower root growth, leaf chlorosis and lesser fruit production.

Effect of Iron (Fe) deficiency in plants

Young leaves become yellowish.

Effect of Zinc (Zn) deficiency in plants

Leaf surfaces become spotted with chlorosis & stunted growth

Knop's solution

A culture solution that contains all nutrients including trace elements needed by healthy plants.
