Part of the plant that will develop to become a fruit

The part of a flower that will fall off after fertilization

Part of flower that will degenerate during the formation of fruit

Stigma & style

Pericarp consist of:

Exocarp, mesocarp & endocarp

Mesocarp is the middle layer of the pericarp and is a thick, fleshy layer of tissue.
