Question

Movement of Substances Across a Plasma Membrane and its Application in Daily Life (1)

Not quite remember

I easily remember

Plant wilting phenomena

Caused by excessive use of fertilizers

Isotonic drinks for athletes

Supplying water and mineral ions to replace its loss in sweat and supplying glucose to generate energy

Saline solution

It is an isotonic solution that will not add and remove fluid to the injured tissue

Pickled cabbage by using vinegar

Vinegar is hypertonic to cabbage cells, which causes water from the cabbage to diffuse out into the vinegar through osmosis

Preservation of fish using salt

Salt solution is hypertonic to fish that causes water to diffuse out from the fish cells to enter the salt solution that causes fish cells to crenate

Liposome technology

Liposomes are vesicles that contain aqueous solution surrounded by a phospholipid bilayer membrane which are used to protect drugs or active substances taken orally

Reverse osmosis

Uses semi-permeable membrane that allows water molecules to pass through it but not foreign particles, salt and microorganisms, which allows only pure fresh water is released

Effects of excessive fertilizer on plants

Increases the concentration of solutes in soil water compared to plant sap cells

Water diffuse out of plant sap cell

Due to the hypertonic state of the groundwater, the water is pushed out

Isotonic water content

Water, mineral ions (electrolytes), and glucose (carbohydrates)
