Consists of two or more elements that are mixed chemically

Examples of compound

Water and tiles

Alkali metals

Metals that react with water to form alkali compounds and release hydrogen gas

Examples of alkali metals

Lithium, sodium and potassium

Examples of non-compound (due to chemical reaction) that can be found in nature

Gold, silver and platinum

Electrolysis

A chemical decomposition of a compound to its elements by passing an electric current through the compound

Physical changes

Does not form a new substance

Chemical change

Forms a new substance that is different from the original substances

Ice melting and rusting of iron
