Blood
A type of connective tissue consisting of plasma, blood cells and platelets
Heart
Serves as a muscular pump that circulates blood throughout the body
Blood vessels
It consists of arteries, capillaries and veins that are connected to the heart and transport blood to all tissues of the body.
Heart structure
Contains four chambers namely left atrium, right atrium, left ventricle and right ventricle.
Septum
The muscular wall that separates the space on the left and the space on the right of the heart.
Pulmonary artery
Transporting deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs
Pulmonary vein
Transports oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart.
Aorta
It is the main blood artery that transports oxygenated blood throughout the body.
Vena cava
It is the main vein that transports deoxygenated blood back to the heart
The location of the heart
Located between the lungs in the thoracic cavity and contains four chambers namely the left atrium, right atrium, left ventricle and right ventricle.
